The stakeholders of the Çanakkale Antenna Tower project received their European Steel Design Awards 2021 at the awards ceremony held on 16 November 2021 at the meeting room of Fibrobeton A.Ş. in Istanbul. Winners of the project received their awards from H. Yener Gür'eş, President of TUCSA and Vice President of the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS).
ECCS has been organizing the European Steel Design Awards (ESDA) every second years since 1997. TUCSA have participated in these competitions organised by ECCS of which TUCSA is a full member since its establishment in 1992, and all the submitted projects have received awards.
TUCSA had proposed two projects from Turkey for European Steel Design Awards 2021: GEMAK Shipyard Administration Building and Çanakkale Antenna Tower projects. International Jury evaluated all projects and decided to awards Çanakkale Antenna Tower project with European Steel Design Award.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ECCS decided that the European Steel Design Awards will be given to the winners of European Steel Design Awards by thew full national association members (NAM) of ECCS in their countries on behalf of the ECCS this year. Mr. Sukan Külekçi and Mr. İbrahim Çelik from İntaç İnşaat Mühendislik attended the award ceremony. The award ceremony started with the "welcome" speech by H. Yener Gür'eş. During his speech, Gür'eş gave information about the scope of the competition and the evaluation process of the projects. After his speech, Mr. Sukan Külekçi, Founding Partner of İntaç Ltd, shared a brief information about the design and construction process of the project, accompanied by visuals.
