Turkish Construction Steel Association, which consistently endeavours on creating awareness on “Steel Structures and Fire”, held a meeting on “Steel Structures and Fire” and conducted Courses on Steel Structure Fire Design with the organization by Structural Steel Training and Research Center (YAÇEM), support by KARDEMIR and partnership of Karabuk University.
“Steel Structures and Fire Panel” is held on 16 September 2013 in cooperation with Karabuk University Iron and Steel Institute in Karabuk. World-renowned Prof. Jean-Marc FRANSSEN from Belgium Liege University, France EGOLF President Pascal COGET and Efectis Era Eurasia Board Chairman Ilker IBIK attended the event as speakers.
In the event opened under moderatorship of President of Karabuk University Iron and Steel Institute Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevdet GÖLOşLU, firstly Prof. Jean-Marc FRANSSEN from Belgium Liege University shared his knowledge on effects of fire on steel and importance of fire design of steel structures. Next, Efectis Era Eurasia Board Chairman Ilker IBIK gave a detailed speech on “Fire and Its Effects on Steel Structures” and “Comparison of Steel Structures with Other Structure Types with regards to Fire Effects and Passive Protection Measures” and presented striking examples with citations of laboratory experiments.
Last speaker of the panel was EGOLF President Pascal COGET from France. COGET gave a speech on benefits of use of fire safety engineering for steel structures for effective fire safety and savings it would bring without compromising from safety.
