14th of Turkish Construction Steel Association's traditional activity, STRUCTURAL STEEL DAY, was held in Istanbul Marriott Hotel Asia Ball Room on 18 December 2013. In the convention day of the industry held with broad participation, architects, engineers, manufacturers, contractors, academicians and students convened with institutions supporting the industry. In the First Section of 14th Structural Steel Day, which started with the Opening Speech of Prof. Dr. Nesrin YARDIMCI, Turkish Construction Steel Association Chairman, 3 technical subjects were discussed. Following the presentation on "CE Marking and Technical Approval – Regulations, Applications and Expectations" by TUCSA Board Vice Chairman H. Yener GÜR'EŞ, Efectis ERA Chairman İlker İBİK made the presentation on "Fire Endurance Tests and Certification on Steel Structures". Next, Turkish Steel Manufacturers Association Secretary General Dr. Veysel YAYAN provided information to participants with the presentation on "Sustainability and Environmental Awareness in Steel Manufacturing". In the Second Section of the event, 4 steel structure projects – 2 of which were presented only in 14th Structural Steel Day – were presented to participants in detail. Presentations of "Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport New Terminal" by Ahmet ÇITIPITIOĞLU, "ANKANATURA" by Melih ŞİMŞEK from Akşan Construction, "Pristina International Airport Adem Jashari" by Dilgün SAKLAR from Tekeli Sisa Architecture and "Konya Science Center" by Utku Cengiz ÖZYURT from Endeco Engineering were delivered in detail to the participants of 14th Structural Steel Day. In the last section of the event, "2013 Industry Awards Ceremony" by Turkish Construction Steel Association which commenced this year was held. In TUCSA Industry Awards, four categories were introduced; in "Young Steel Structure Designers" category PROSteel 2013 First Prize Winner Team, in "Turkey Structural Steel Design" Architect, Structural Engineer, Steel Manufacturer and Owner of Steel Radar Towers Project, in "Steel Office Structure" category Architect, Structural Engineer, Steel Manufacturer and Owner of ÇİMTAŞ Office Project and in "Turkey's Highest Steel Structure" category Architect, Structural Engineer, Steel Manufacturer and Owner of Double Tree by Hilton Avcılar Project were awarded with TUCSA Industry Award.
