Type: Cable Stayed (Steel cable suspension span 400 m)
Nissibi Bridge is a precedent for Turkish construction industry in terms of technical specifications with a series of firsts and innovations. Categorized as “Cable Stayed” in international literature, this bridge class is a very modern and contemporary bridge type used in crossing large spans line suspension bridges in Bosphorus, Istanbul. Nissibi bridge which will carry four highway lanes with two lanes at each side has a middle span of 400 meters over the dam reservoir with pylons of 96 meters height at each side and a total length of 610 meters. With these characteristics, Nissibi Bridge is a first in our country. With construction start date in 2012 by Gülsan, the bridge is completed in a short project period of 2,5 years and started operation for our people.
Reverse-Y type towers are used in Nissibi Bridge, which allowed ease of construction with anchoring the cables to vertical portion of the tower and provided rigidity against earthquake and winds in latitudinal direction.
In Nissibi Bridge, each wire has been galvanized, gap between wire and sheath was filled with wax, high density polyethylene sheath was used to for each cable (wire group). Lead-centered rubber supports were used in pylon end spans and partially in abutments with additional pot supports. Dimensions of the supports were 1120x1810 in rectangular shape with elastomer supports funtion as supporting and re-centering elements in foundations and lead-centers provide efficient damping. During service conditions, these supports provide the required rigidity to the bridge and act as dampers during earthquakes.
