Designed by Manco Architecture which won the competition held by KKB (Credit Reference Agency), this facility constitutes of the largest data center spaces of Turkey with its annexes. Architectural and engineering design prepared with Revit BIM software were developed to receive Uptime Tier 4 data center and LEED Gold green building certificates with collaboration of an extensive consultant team.
An inclined roof is formed on top of the Data Center both for efficient rainwater discharge and use of solar panels to be utilized in the future. Roof with the surface area of 6.152 sqm is divided in three different sections where each section is dimensioned in line with the requirements of mechanical and electrical installations.
Openings were designed on all surfaces of the roof for exchange of fresh air to the mechanical floor. Roof sections with different angles creates a dynamic structural mass and a reference is thus made to the pre-construction stage of the topography of the building area before excavation and backfilling activities during construction.
In the project composed of different structures in which reinforced concrete structure is used in part or full; Data Center roof, Auxiliary Building loading platform canopy and canopy covering uniting the roofs are the primary steel structures.
Steel roofs are formed of steel columns fixed to reinforced concrete columns resting on a flat reinforced concrete slab.
Supporting system is defined by beams in the direction of roof inclination and connecting purlins. Data Center roof is composed of three sections having the same inclination direction but different levels and inclination angles. In this respect, graduality is achieved with trussed beams at intersection axis. Inverse V vertical diagonal members are used to counter horizontal displacements. All purlins are connected to pipe cross-sections to provide horizontal confinement.
15-meter span was designed in loading bay canopy to prevent loss in the number of vehicles. A 5-meter cantilever exists at the end. A “V” column system in line with the architectural design was used at the cantilever starting point due to limitation of the room for maneuver. Hence, support point is left out of the maneuver area but no change wass made in cantilever dimension.
