PROSteel 2013 is a Steel Constructions Design Student Competition which is organised by Turkish Constructional Steelwork Association and Borusan Mannesmann together every year, and aims to develop creative solutions to expose the features of steel constructions. Applications for PROSteel 2013 have started. Besides developing creative solutions for steel constructions, this competition targets to create a common working environment for architecture and civil engineering students, and to enable them to gain experience in the field of steel construction.
The jury of the competition consists of Civil Eng. and Architect Yaşar Marulyalı, Msc, (Head of jury), Ass. Prof. Dr. Architect İpek Yada Akpınar, Architect. Cem İlhan, Msc, Dr. Civil Eng. Selçuk İz, Architect Nevzat Sayın, Prof. Dr. Arch. Hasan şener and Prof. Dr. Civil Eng. Nesrin Yardımcı.
This year’s topic is “The Design of an Elementary School of 8 years with steel structures and to meet the requirements of habitats on district scale in a city”. The participant teams should have at least one architecture and one civil engineering student. Besides, the teams can take consultancy of an instructor from architecture or civil engineering faculties of the universities. As the deadline for the applications is determined as March 4, 2013, the projects have to be submitted to YEM prior to 17:00 on March 26, 2013. The results of the competition will be publicised at www.prosteel.org on April 16, 2013. The awards will be given by a ceremony on May 10, 2013.
