The International Symposium “Steel Structures: culture and Sustainability 2010” inaugurated by ECCS and TUCSA president Prof. Dr. Nesrin Yardımcı which was held between the 21st and 23rd of September at Taksim The Marmara Oteli. Speakers from 22 different countries in 18 sessions presented 72 papers, and the international symposium of SSCS 2010 also had two invited lecturers. The bright name of steel stuctures, Italian architect Alessandro Zopini and the veteran of engineering, Jean-Baptiste Schleich.
<b>German “Steel Construction Design and Research” Review’s Special Issue</b>
German quarterly “Steel Construction – Design and Research” brought out a special issue for the symposium. Editors board of Prof. Dr. Nesrin Yardımcı, Prof. Dr. Luis da Silva, Prof. Dr. Milan Veljkovic, Prof. Dr. Harun Batırbaygil, and Prof. Dr. Cavidan Yorgun chose 8 of the papers presented at the symposium. These articles were published in the reviews September issue.
<b>Symposium Book: 73 papers</b>
72 presentations accepted by the International Symposium SSCS 2010 Organization Committee and the invited speaker’s lecture the book of 740 pages, titled “Steel Structures: Culture & Sustainability” has been published by TUCSA. The book has sections like Sustainability, Architecture, Earthquake and Reinforcement, Combinations, Fire, Composite Structures, and Cold formed Steel.
