11th Constructional Steel Day started by TUCSA Executive Board President Prof. Dr. Nesrin Yardımcı’s welcoming address which was very effective and thought provoking. She rounded up her statement saying “... most significant indispensable fact is “change”. Thus Turkey, Caucasus, West Asia, Middle East, East Europe, and North Africa even in a very expansive arena of the world when the changing ecomonic and tecnological transformations are evaluated 21st Century’s Silk Road will be Steel Road and Turkey as is always been in the past with its geographical conjuncture be in the center of it all. As the Turkish Constructional Steel Association, since cultures and roads converge in İstanbul, here in these meetings with cultural and sustainability approach we are aiming for the establishment of a new platform calling it the “Steel Road”. Global economic and tecnological trends, sharing of information in the building sector and opportunities are also on TUCSA’s agenda. In this respect, we hope to achieve a synergy at the “STEEL ROAD” platform that will enforce international relations and connections as an open door to the world from Turkey. When we achieve this and make it permanent then we have succeded. Traditional with modern details Steel Road will be valuable for the steel industry.” Thus with her sheech she showed a glimpse of this vision, an exciting project.
