ECCS 2010 Steel Bridge Competition Awards
Organized by European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) the first of the Europe Steel Bridge Awards was given in 2008. The second of this biennial event took place in 2010 and the award ceremony was held during the 2010 Steel Structures Week in Turkey.
Organized by European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) the first of the Europe Steel Bridge Awards was given in 2008. The second of this biennial event took place in 2010 and the award ceremony was held during the 2010 Steel Structures Week in Turkey. This year 37 projects applied to the Europe Steel Bridges Award which is established to promote notable steel and composite bridges, manufacture, production, stressing economic and architectural advantages of steel; to get customers, architects and engineers accept building in steel, to turn the steel sector into a more competitive sector. These projects competed in 3 categories.”Road and Rail Bridges”, “Footbridges”, and “by use of steel renovation of an existing bridge”. Paulo J. S. Cruz, Jean-Pierre Epinoux, Niels Gimsing, Ulrike Kuhlmann, Bertrand Lemoine and Nesrin Yardımcı as the Jury deliberated the projects and 5 were found deserving. During the program of İstanbul 2010 Steel Structures Week, on September 22, 2010 the contenders received their awards from ECCS and TUCSA president Prof. Dr. Nesrin Yardımcı.
