Çimtaş Çelik İmalat Montaj ve Tesisat A.ş., having started manufacturing in Gemlik, Bursa in 1979. Manufactures steel pipes used in heavy industries such as heavy steel structures, steel bridges and wind towers in their 41.000 m2 closed facilities located on 150.000 m2 open space. Decision was made for renovation of the existing two-strorey management building located south of manufacturing area to meet the current needs. In this regard, management building is demolished un whole and re-constructed as a four-storey steel structure and located adjacent to natural landscape boundary parallel to the road in rectangular from which is different from the former structure. Sturcture having a total area of appoximately 2000 m2 consists of offices and meeting rooms.
In desing process, it is aimed to reconstruct space connections without altering operation process of the factory. Therefore, desing of not a 2.000 m2 structure but 100.000 m2 of land is considered in desing. Thus, it is considered to render the structure as transparent as possible within natural and artificial landscape to enable passage from one to another and not to discontinue perception. In this regard, north facade of the structure is designed fully transparent, allowing continuous view of reflecting structural members from every point of the structure with the large water plane right in front of the building whereas south facade of the structure is designed to from integrity with frames with the surrounding green texture. Therefore, every office worker is allowed to live through artifical and natural landscape for the whole day.
Structural Details of The Project
Building foundation is raft foundation stabilized with jet grout system due to existing soil conditions.
Superstructure bearing system consists of a four-storey structure with 10.80 m clearing with steel pipe columns with reinforced concrete, composite deck beams and horizontal transverse steel shear walls supporting horizontal loads.
A 6 m cantilever structure is constructed on the first flor with continuous mesh system forming two lattice trusses.
Columns are designed as concrete-filled steel pipe sections for visual slenderness and fire safety. Similarly, horizontal tansverse elements are selected as pipe sections for architectural considerations.
Steel bearing system is preferred for architectural convenience, fast construction and manufacturability by Çimtaş.
Construction period is shortened reduced with the use of holorib deck sheet providing strong connection with concrete decks allowing easy and variable connections for underfloor installations.

Manufacturing Details
Column joints and horizontal transverse connections are chosen as welded joints for architectural reasons and beam connections are executed as bolted connections.
