Structure is located on D-100 highway which is a significant route in Avcılar. Earthquake characteristics of the region forced us to use steel
construction in this project. Project being the first in use of steel structure throughout the whole of the structure in high-rise buildings in Turkey has
a simple formal characteristic in architectural point of view. While the horizontal mass contains functions required to be provided in horizontal plane, vertical mass embraces the view in the direction of Marmara and Black Sea. Architectural and inner space allocation of the structure emphasizes the structural system throughout the structure. Structure has a narrow façade in D-100 arterial road Istanbul or Edirne direction to prevent a massive structure in perspective and an extensive façade in the direction of the view for enabling an capacious view.
Sustainability is the most significant element in our choice of steel structure. Since the structure is light, less excavation and foundation depth was required. Reproducibility of steel material from scrap helps preservation of our natural resources.
Use of timber is reduced as no formwork is required, thus significantly contributing to preservation of our forests. Since the use of concrete is minimal, emission rate is reduced.
Double Tree By Hılton Hotel; Main tower bearing system is designed as steel construction starting from the ground level and basement levels are designed as a reinforced concrete structure. Blocks located in the front and back of the tower are designed as reinforced concrete structures. Partial steel construction is preferred for the blocks in the back. As steel manufacturing is mainly executed in workshop, construction quality is at top level. Only installation is executed on
site, thus allowing maximum construction speed and contributing to start of operation of the facility in the shortest time period.
Solutions compliant with architecture in inner spaces as well as the façade and contributing to aesthetics are aimed in planning process of steel bearing system.
Transverse systems, connection of columns to transverse elements and column-beam connections are executed with consideration of aesthetic values.
Horizontal loads of the structure (earthquake and wind) are supported by transver elements and vertical loads are supported by hd-type hipstar columns.
Although cross-sections of HD-type columns are significantly large, area occupied by these elements are only in the dimension of 40 cm x 40 cm.
Minimal dimensions of the columns provide a spacious clearing and contribute positively to aesthetics.
Desing Compliant With Nakional and International Regulations
Steel tower is designed compliant to Turkish Earthquake Regulation, Eurocode 3-2005 (Design of Steel Structures), Eurocode 4 (Design of Composite Structures) and American Aısc-Asd89, Aısc 360-05/Ibc2006 codes. Furthermore, performance-based analysis of the tower is conducted.
Columns are composed of Hd-type S460 grade Histar sections.
Main beams and transverse elements consist of S355-grade sections.
secondary beams consist of S275-grade sections.
Beam-beam and column-beam connections are designed as bolted connections with high-strength 10-grade bolts.
All bolts used in connections are checked with torque meters. Torque meters are regularly calibrated with calibration device before each use.
Fire safety is provided with painting all sections with fire-resistant paint.
Welds in factory are executed as inert-gas welding and ultrasonic testing is performed. Furthermore, magnetic particle testing, penetrant testing, visual inspection and non-destructive tests were executed.
Main beams and secondary beams are designed as composite elements with driving composite nails whilst making use of coating concrete which allowed economical solutions.
Column joints are executed with full-penetration butt-welding on site. Kolon ekleri, şantiyede tam penetrasyonlu küt kaynak ile yapılmıştır. Beam-beam and column-beam connections are designed as bolted connections with high-strength 10-grade bolts.
