There is no single rule for this. Records and experiences to date are checked, the project’s construction type and weight is considered and then the production capacity is chosen in phases if necessary. For example, let’s say on the first phase 100-150 tons per week are targeted while after a given time this is expected to be 150-200 tons per week at the second phase; and the third phase it is to be 200-250 tons per week. At such a plant sanding and primer coating are a must in the production. This system has to be chosen according to the final phase. Otherwise, we have to consider the space costs if capacity enhancing by parallel lines is thought, where two shot blasting and shop primer painting lines side by side may not be economical.

In order to process the pieces with a desired precision and speed, after shot blasting and shop primer coating,
there has to be appropriate in capacity the vertical and lateral transports (conveyors and cranes), forklifts and other loading and unloading equipments together with:
• In the production of plate girder, CNC flame (plasma / oxy-fuel) cut lines to process sheet metal and sheet drill & punch machines (preferably CNC) to support fitting productions may be chosen for low capacity productions,
• At a higher level of capacity for preparing plate pieces (fittings), CNC plate processing units (which can consist of thermal counter cutting (plasma and oxygen), punching, drilling, tapping, counter sinking, milling, marking, etc., )
• For profile processing, CNC profile saw (band or disc saw) in combination with CNC profile drill machine can be used, and CNC thermal cutting machines can also be employed for special profile cutting processes such as web cuts and holes, coping, flange welding preparation, etc.
